We have no weather issues into the first part of Saturday other than some passing clouds ovenright. Otherwise Friday should be a sunny day but colder with highs in the mid to upper 30s and then we will be down in the 20s to near 30 by Saturday morning. Saturday we will sunshine giving way to arriving clouds with high temperatures mainly in the 30s.

During Saturday low pressure will be moving up through the Carolinas and then offshore. Snow wiil spread northeastward through Pennsylvania and then over Northern New Jersey, the Hudson Valley, NYC, Long Island and points east into New England during the evening. Along the immediate coast we see rain in the forecast there. Then on Sunday as upper air energy transfers to the coast, the offshore low strengthens, Models are suggesting that the intensifying offshore low will draw down colder air and snow will continue into Sunday afternoon. I’m not 100 percent sold about this idea yet and remain cautious about the outcome in terms of snow accumulations.

If cold air becomes more important, then we can probably pull the southern edge of accumulating snow southward into Central New Jersey as well as Long Island. For now it is best to be cautious and wait to see if this latest model devlopment of a stronger and colder system carries into Friday. If it does you can expect accumulation numbers to go up inland as well as along the coast. All of this comes to and end from west to east Sunday afternoon. Weather conditions improve Monday but then another storm will bring heavy rain, strong winds, and coastal flooding later Tuesday into Wednesday. Inland areas could start as snow and areas in Upstate NY and interior New England could see a substantial thumping befor ultimately going over to rain. More on this storm after the first one is done.
