Low Humidity Sunshine Next 2 Days Then

Very Warm More Humid 4th of July And Late Week

Yesterdays’ cold front and severe weather did a fine job to clear out the atmosphere across the Northeast and Northern Mid Atlantic states. Thunderstorms are long gone and we have a rather large high bringing in a flow of cooler air and low humidity for the next few days. The satellite and radar loops all support a nice day of sunshine for Eastern Pennsylvania to Southern New England today. We will have a nice north wind, low dew points & low relative humidity. Temperatures this afternoon in most places will top out in the lower 80s. You can’t do much better for the first of July. Radars will be quiet all day with no weather issues to speak of..

WEATHER RADAR

We are under the influence of a northwest flow of air from Canada that has brought down this nice dry air mass for the first half of the week. Eventually the high moves offshore and starting Wednesday we will see temperatures start to rise and the humidity will start to rise as well. However we are not going to go to heatwave mode as the ridge building in the Eastern US late this week is on the flattish side. The northwest flow from Canada retreats northward but it will not be that far away to exert some influence in the weather late this week and going into the weekend.

Shower, thunderstorm, and severe weather risk will be non existent through at least Wednesday and even for Thursday which is the 4th of July, any storms should be isolated and mostly well inland. Backing up, Tuesday will be a nice day of sunshine with low humidity continuing. High temperatures will be in the range of 80 to 85 in most places.

Wednesday we will see temperatures move up to the middle and upper 80s but the dew points will still be mostly in the mid to upper 50s so in my view it will still be rather comfortable. Sunshine will be with us and we don’t see any weather issues if you are travelling anywhere in the Northeast or Mid Atlantic states for Independence Day.

Thursday, the 4th of July, we will see humidity levels shoot up as dew points rise to the upper 60s to near 70. We will have some sunshine and temperatures will reach the upper 80s to a few lower 90s. We will have a weak cold front dropping southward from the Great Lakes and Upstate NY. It might set off a few widely scattered afternoon thunderstorms but the best chances for anything will be well inland.

Friday probably brings a higher chance for some scattered thunderstorms as the frontal boundary will be close by. We will still be very warm to hot and humid with some sunshine taking highs into the upper 80s to near 90 degrees or so. Thunderstorm risks likely rise over the weekend as a slow moving low and cold front make there way through the Northeast and Mid Atlantic but by no means will we see all day rains on either weekend day.
