Heat Humidity Return Thursday Through Saturday

Along With Increasing Thunderstorm Chances Saturday

Today is the last day of low dew points and reasonable humidity so enjoy it. It is getaway day if you are planning a long 4 day weekend for the 4th of July holiday which is Thursday. We have high pressure offshore but at least for today the dew points will be mostly in the 50s. Sunshine will take temperatures to the middle 80s away from the coast. The south wind will keep coastal areas a few degrees cooler. No showers or thunderstorms are forecast.

Dew points will start coming up tonight with most lows in the mid 60s to around 70 degrees by Thursday morning. Thursday dayside will be very warm to hot and it will be humid as dew points rise up to near 70 by afternoon. We will have a fair amount of sunshine. High temperatures Thursday afternoon will be in the upper 80s to lower 90s though it will be a few degrees cooler at area beaches.

We are going to throw in the chance there could be a scattered shower or thunderstorm. The best chances will be in areas inland north and west of the coast but even in these areas there is a good chance that most of you won’t see anything and even if you do it won’t last long. Friday we will continue with very warm to hot conditions along with high humidity. Sunshine will take highs to the upper 80s to lower 90s again and there is the chance for some late day scattered thunderstorms. The risk for storms Friday is a little higher than it is for Thursday.

Weak upper troughs are the mechanisms that will create the scattered thunderstorm risk Thursday and Friday. Saturday we see a stronger short wave trough and cold front approach so this is likely the day where showers and thunderstorms could be more widespread. It doesn’t rain all day but there will probably be some showers and thunderstorms developing in the afternoon and continuing into Saturday night.

There isn’t much of a push of dry air behind the weather front so don’t expect to see another round of nice dry air and pleasant temperatures. It may be slightly less humid Sunday verses Saturday but not enough to make a big difference. Saturday highs will be in the upper 80s to around 90 degrees or so. Sunday highs will be a shade lower in the mid to upper 80s. Next week shapes up to be very warm to hot and humid Monday and Tuesday and we will probably see a stronger slow moving front and the risk for showers and thunderstorms late Tuesday and again Wednesday.
