Cold Front Passing Through, Dry Nice Weather Thursday Through The Weekend Hurricane Lee Passes to the East

There is much going on today as we have a cold front passes through. The last of any showers and thunderstorms that moved through overnight and this morning will pass through the east. Then we will see leftover clouds for the rest of the day. There could be another shower or thunderstorm this afternoon as the front and upper trough finally passes. Hurricane Lee is on the satellite loop on the lower right. It is moving north northwestward and will gradually turn to the north later today and tonight.

Hurricane Lee will be pulling down lots of dry air so the days of high humidity will be overwith. The front offshore will shield Eastern Pennsylvania to Southern New England from a direct hit, however it will come close enough to bring some rain to Eastern Connecticut and Eastern Long Island. Also we could see gusty winds in those areas develop Friday night and Saturday as the hurricane passes to the east. Temperatures today will hold in the 70s.

Skies will clear out tonight with lows in the mid 50s to lower 60s. Thursday we should see plenty of sunshine, very low humidity with dew points in the 40s. Temperatures will top out in the low to middle 70s with a nice north northeast breeze. No rain is forecast for Thursday.

Friday we will see the set up for Hurricane Lee come into focus. Most of the area will see sunshine however over eastern areas from Southern New England, Long Island, and points east and north, clouds will back in from the east. No rain is forecast for Friday. Areas to the west will be mostly sunny while sun will give way to clouds in those eastern areas. Highs will be in the 70s.

Friday night into Saturday as Hurricane Lee moves northward, over Eastern Long Island, Eastern Connecticut and points east we will have breezy to windy conditionds developing with rain backing in from the west. The rain shield will probably cut off in Central Connecticut and Central Long Island. Meanwhile for Eastern Long Island, and Southeastern New England, tropical storm conditions will develop Friday night and last into Saturday morning.

The strongest winds and heaviest rains will likely be over Eastern Massachusetts including Cape Cod, and coastal New Hampshire and Maine. Lee is forecast to hook briefly to the northwest and the center will likely make a landfall along the Maine coast, probably in Southeastern Maine or possibly on the southwest coast of New Brunswick on the Canada side. Weather conditions will improve as any effects over Eastern Long Island will move out Saturday morning and over Eastern Massachusetts.

Much of the area from Eastern Pennsylvania to Southwestern New England and most of Long Island will be partly to mostly sunny especially for areas west of NYC. It will be breezy except for areas to the east which could see gusty winds at times. Highs will be in the 70s with low humidity. Sunday will be a nice day with sunshine and a few clouds. Highs will be in the mid to upper 70s. We will probably see the National Hurricane Center put up  hurricane and tropical storm watches go up for parts of the Northeast US later today or Thursday morning.
